New Moon,
New Beginnings
Kuhu or “new moon” in Hindu texts, symbolizes new beginnings. In early 2024, cousins Gayathri Yadlapalli and Aarti Tatieni decided to build an ethical jewelry business - a dream both have been extremely passionate about since childhood. Kuhu was created with conscious, thoughtful consideration bringing to life affordable, timeless, and genuinely ethical jewelry that can be adorned every day.
”People over profit” is at Kuhu’s core, our goal is for growth to never come at the expense of positive working conditions or protecting the environment.

Diamonds:
Real vs Lab
Lab diamonds and mined diamonds have the exact same chemical and physical properties, essentially there is no difference between the two - except for their source.
One carat of a mined diamond approximately removes 250 tons of earth/soil, requires 120 gallons of water, and emits 140 lbs of CO2.
Mining diamonds “produces 4,383 times more waste than manufactured gems, uses 6.8 times as much water, and consumes 2.14 times the energy per carat produced.”
Diamonds for Peace estimates that on average, 50 million people may end up abused and damaged as they struggle to survive working in the diamond mines. Human rights abuses in diamond mines range from child labor, bonded and forcesd labor, violence and sexual assaults.

Lab Grown Diamonds
If a lab diamond and mined diamond where put through a test, both would test positive because they are the exact same.
